Getting Back to Nature When You’re Feeling Disconnected
I woke up the other morning, and I felt disconnected. There’s been so much going on lately that I haven’t had time to “stop and smell the roses.” I needed to get back to nature. I needed to get out and smell the grass, see the trees, and feel the sun on my skin.
Where I live, there are so many lakes and walking trails around. There’s no excuse for not taking advantage of them. So, I decided to spend some time in nature, which was refreshing. When I walk a trail, I usually do it for exercise. This time, I took my time enjoying nature. To see the trees, touch the leaves, and smell the rain in the air (it was a little cloudy that day). I didn’t worry about the time or the fact that my shoes were getting muddy. I watched and listened to the stream. I looked toward the sky to see the trees’ height and admire all this universe has provided.
This walk was a much-needed experience, and I plan to do it more regularly. Life can get stressful sometimes, so we have to remember to take joy in the simple things. Enjoy nature because we are more connected than we realize. This world has so much to offer if we take the time to look, and it doesn’t cost a thing. It’s lovely to be able to get up and go outside and enjoy the one thing we’ve all been given…life.
What are some things you like to do to get reconnected?
